Once you're done playing and you close the game, the script re-syncs your system to today's time and date before exiting. After changing the date, the script runs mlb2k12.exe, which is the executable file that launches MLB 2K12. The system date is first changed to October 2nd (which I find safer than October 3rd in case midnight rolls around while you're playing). This batch script does a number of things. First, click on "File > Save As." Next, change the "Save as type:" option from "Text Documents (*.txt)" to "All Files." Name the file whatever you like, but make sure to add ".bat" to the end of the filename so that it reads "whatever.bat". Here's the important part: you'll need to save this file as a batch (.bat) file. If you're unsure of where your game is installed, right-click the shortcut you use to open the game and look at the "shortcut" tab you should be able to find the installation path next to the "Start in:" label. Mine is "E:\2K Sports\Major League Baseball 2K12\" while yours is probably "C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Sports\Major League Baseball 2K12" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\mlb 2k12". The value in quotes (red) needs to be changed to your MLB 2K12 installation directory.
Try opening a command promt (Start > "cmd" without quotes in the search box) and typing "date /t" (again without quotes) to display your system date. You may need to change the date (in purple above) if things aren't working.

I'm in the US, so Windows is configured to display dates in month/day/year format. This method works perfectly on my PC, but there's no guarantee it'll work on yours without some tinkering.įirst, open up Notepad - you can use the Start menu to open the program, or you can create a text file by right-clicking on your desktop and choosing "New > Text Document." In Windows 7, right-click the system clock on the taskbar and select "Adjust date/time".
Thankfully, there's a relatively easy workaround that involves changing your system date. This likely has to do with the "MLB Today" feature and the fact that there weren't any games on the real-life MLB schedule on July 9, 11-12, and October 4-5. After opening MLB 2K12 and watching the game load all of the sliders, profiles, and roster files, the game freezes. One such bug that first cropped up during the actual All-Star Break in July seems to have returned. This year's title isn't terrible, but the game isn't without its bugs and shortcomings.

Post-release support for MLB 2K12 has been pretty awful, with the PC version left completely untouched and consoles last seeing a patch in June.

It's a damn shame they didn't continue with the MLB 2k series, because 2k12 is pretty amazing in every respect other than graphics, where The Show always had it beat.This is likely the end of the line for the MLB 2K series since Take-Two's agreement with MLBPA expires this year. And how accurate and fast you are at doing the gesture determines how well you throw the ball, in addition to the standard timing meter that every sports game has. I love the gesture pitching, and the idea of making a simple up/down gesture on your gamepad stick for a fastball, but a complicated down-left-clockwise circle gesture for something trickier like a knuckleball. It's got everything I could ever want in terms of features, and the actual playing mechanics are superb. Quite frankly, I can't imagine a better baseball game out there.

There's even ENB graphics mods to push your GPU to the limit, ala Skyrim. It amazingly still has an active modding community with up to date team rosters, player stats, and even completely new player models and textures (the game is surprisingly available to modding). And since the game developers abandoned the idea of PC baseball back in 2011, the last good game we were left with is MLB 2k12. I'd love to be playing The Show with yall on a fancy PS4, but I don't have one.
